The history of the clubs early years was not recorded. It was run by James Mulcahy from about 1981 who trained in the style of Mocho Ryu. It was taken over by Sensei Neil Benton in 1988 and shortly after the club adopted the style of Washinkai and became part of the BTKA. Since 1988 the club has had several 'homes' and is now run at Lydd Junior school.
